How to Respond When a Buyer Asks About a Late Shipment
Checking tracking, contacting the carrier, and keeping the buyer informed.
When a "where's my order?" message lands, the first move isn't writing a reply — it's checking. A reply written without any real information in hand usually makes the buyer more anxious, not less.
What to keep in mind
Check the tracking number first. If there's been no movement for a while, contact your carrier and find out what's actually going on. Tell the buyer you're keeping a close eye on the package, that the delay is on the carrier's side, and that you'll send a new one if there's still no movement in a few days. That last part matters — it shows the buyer there's a way out either way.

Hello [Name],
Thank you for checking in, and I'm sorry for the delay. I just checked your tracking number ([tracking #]) and I can see it [is on its way / hasn't moved in a few days]. I've reached out to [carrier] to find out more.
I'm keeping a close eye on this, and if there's no movement within the next few days, I'll send you a new package right away at no extra cost.
Thank you for your patience — I'll update you as soon as I know more.
Best regards,

How Sellereply handles this
Sellereply reads the shipping and tracking info from the order panel and pulls the tracking number and current status straight into the draft. After you've spoken with the carrier, add what you learned to the Add note field and the draft updates to include it.
Check first, then write — every time.
