What to Do When an Etsy Buyer Isn't Responding

Reaching out by email, sending a reminder, and your options as the ship date nears.

You're waiting on a personalization detail, or just an answer to a question, and the buyer has gone quiet. Days pass, the ship date gets closer, and it can feel like you're out of options. You're not — there are a few paths forward.

What to keep in mind

Click the buyer's name in Orders and you'll see their email address — you can follow up there directly. Sending an occasional reminder message is also worth doing; some buyers simply miss Etsy's notifications.

If you still haven't heard back and the ship date is approaching, you have three options: cancel the order; ship with your own default choice, if the listing states that as an option; or buy a shipping label and enter the tracking number to keep things moving — you can always update that tracking number later once the buyer replies.

Hello [Name],

I hope this reaches you! I still need a bit more information to complete your order: [details]. I'd love to get this ready for you as soon as possible, so please let me know when you have a chance.

If I don't hear back soon, I may need to move forward with [default option / a cancellation] to keep things on schedule — but I'd much rather make sure it's exactly what you want first.

Best regards,

How Sellereply handles this

For orders sitting without a reply, Sellereply suggests a gentle reminder draft. Add something like "I'll also reach out by email" or "flag that the ship date is close" to the Add note field and it adapts the draft accordingly — so you're not writing every reminder from scratch.

Silence isn't an answer — follow up.
